Wokeness is as old as the Bible, the Remedy even older

This post may deviate a bit from my usual posts, for it touches upon religion and the Bible.
However, in consistency with most of my posts, it nevertheless focuses on truth and on exposing the evil machinations we are constantly facing and battling as a society which, for the most part, still espouses sound morals and common decency.
It’s funny how despite how I despise the people behind YouTube and its parent Google, the platform nevertheless recommends some videos that I find particularly pertinent and worth watching. It makes me wonder whether this is simply a random occurrence, or that it may be some kind of divine intervention or hand guiding me in a certain direction. Who knows.
This morning, YouTube recommended to me Wokeness is as old as the Bible itself. The remedy is even older which is not recent, but from eight months ago. Yet, the message is as timely eight months later, as is its referenced contents which dates back a few millennia ago. We tend to think that such kinds of societal ills are only recent, but human beings have been facing them ever since they have banded together in groups.
Regardless of whether or not you consider yourself a religious or spiritual person, the messages in this forthcoming video – which is a sermon from a Catholic priest, are spot on, as they relate to today’s unfathomable depravity, especially in the midst of what many would deem one of the greatest evil experiments in social engineering that has ever plagued humanity, namely that of wokeism.

What is wokeism?
Most of you know what wokeism is really about. But for those who are not entirely familiar and to keep it short, wokeism refers to an instilled ideology, or cult, that espouses supposed rightful values and beliefs; and, anyone who goes against those beliefs should be relentlessly shunned, attacked, and mercilessly punished by the woke mob. There is no room for civil discourse, compromise, or open mindedness.

As Yuri Bezmenov, former KGB agent from the Soviet Union, once said: it is an agenda, or ideological subversion method or process by which a society is overtaken without it knowing it is being overtaken. The process is a slow one which can take a few decades to manifest and usually takes place in four stages: 1) demoralization, 2) destabilization, 3) crisis, 4) normalization.
How was wokeness referred to in the Bible?
Getting back to the main point of this post, it’s now time to have a look at what the Bible says about the depravity – which is the essence of wokeism.
The sermon in question is by Father David Wilton, a Catholic priest of the Fathers of Mercy at the Chapel of Divine Mercy in Auburn, Kentucky from July 24, 2022. You can watch it in full hereunder, or skip to the highlights this author has chosen to include.
Many points raised in the Homily resonated with me and here are some notable ones. Father Wilton begins with the following:
“If we knew our history, we would know that wokeness is as old as the Bible itself, as portrayed from today’s first reading. A reading from the Book of Genesis:
“The people of Sodom and Gomorrah had become so depraved that they looked upon depravity as good and traditional virtuous behavior as bad.”
Sounds kind of familiar, doesn’t it? [in today’s society]”
Many aspects of wokeism certainly are ideologically perverted. Things like transgenderism where a man can supposedly be a woman, have periods, and even give birth, or a woman can suddenly be a man and magically no longer hold the biological traits that she has been birthed with, are omnipresent in today’s twisted world
The grooming of children through drag queen story time, or explicitly pornographic educational books should be completely unacceptable, yet is normalised across classrooms and libraries in many “woke countries” around the Western world. Worse, many groups and even political parties seek to normalize and legalise pedophilia.

Black is white. White is black.
Evil is good. Good is evil.
The list goes on and on and is much too long to include in this post. It is to be noted, however, that this author is working on a major post (or series) that will touch upon the subject of the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and wokeism agenda which should be published sometime during Spring.
“The great servant of God archbishop Fulton Sheen was a student of history. And quite frankly, he was a modern prophet…You know back in the year 1947, that’s 75 years ago, he was warning us about what was coming down the road, what was coming down the pike…He said during a radio broadcast and I quote “We are at the end of Christendom…Christendom is economic political social life as inspired by Christian principles that is ending. We’ve seen it die.” Then he says “look at the symptoms: the breakup of the family, divorce, abortion, immorality, general dishonesty.”
The priest then rhetorically asks: “1947? What would he [archbishop Fulton Sheen] say today?
He then contrasts the era in which archbishop Fulton lived which was supposedly a [post-WWII] prosperous golden age with that of today’s “smartphone” era, further pondering: “People today owe their allegiance to social media…For many people, social media is their moral compass. Public opinion is what’s most important to people nowadays.”
This is a sad truth and reality. Most people are more concerned with getting their latest adrenaline fixes from the social media likes, seeking to impose their moral dogmas through virtue signaling on those very platforms, while seeking refuge in their familiar safe spaces and echo chambers. They seek approval and assurance from their virtual peers, rather than their own flesh-and-blood neighbors and family members.
Fittingly, Reverend Milton then talks about how this crisis [of wokeism] should be handled. As mentioned above, crisis is the third stage of ideological subversion, as noted by Bezmenov.
After noting that we should not rely on politicians or elections every four years to remedy our ills, Milton then spoke other words of wisdom that really strikes a chord:
“The only way out of this crisis is spiritual. What are the steps of this spiritual recovery? First and foremost, we priests need to be priests. We priests must fight against wokeness. How do we do that? By being watchmen. By preaching the truth…we must never present evil as something but evil…because there’s nothing worse than spiritual starvation. That’s what led us to this crisis to begin with.”
He hits the nail on the head with this passage, for he gets to the root of the current crisis. While the breakdown of the family is one of the main culprits as both he and archbishop Fulton touched upon, the main ill that plagues today’s society is a lack of a spiritual purpose.
When one looks at those members of the angry woke mobs that make up Antifa, Black Live Matters, and similar groups, one can easily notice the hatred and spiritual emptiness and despair in their eyes. They have replaced the human necessity of spirituality with that of an ideology to which they can cling onto. All humans need a sense of purpose. And, in the absence of genuinely caring and loving hands to guide them, they will find it wherever they can.
Those who have devised and are pushing this woke agenda – and many other evil agendas, for that matter – are on a mission: to divide-and-conquer.
It is nothing less than spiritual and psychological warfare.
“How did Abraham confront the wokeness of Sodom and Gomorrah?” asked Rev. Milton. “Prayer,” he answered.
While choosing to believe in God, gods, or in religion is up to everyone to decide, the fact remains that we are creatures in this world of good and evil. One cannot exist without the other.
On multiple occasions during his sermon, Rev. Milton cited archbishop Fulton Sheen.
Sheen was a very popular American bishop of the Catholic Church whose sermons were broadcast on radio and television for decades. He was a great orator who was quite charismatic, humorous, and could easily engage with any audience that sat before him.
One of his sermons, The Devil & the Diabolic, was particularly noteworthy in the context of our current discussion and is worth further consideration. In it, he examined the diabolic from both a psychiatric point of view, and then from a biblical one.
He began by noting the etymology of the word itself. Diabolic comes the Greek words dia and ballein which means to “tear apart.” Anything, therefore, that breaks pattern, produces discord, that destroys unity is the diabolic.
It’s the disruption of unity.
The divide-and-conquer tactic employed by those who abuse and misuse their power and scheme from the shadows, therefore, is diabolic. Their intent is to disrupt social cohesiveness and unity.
And this tactic that is integral to the woke agenda and ideology has been purposefully employed as such, and is therefore nothing less than evil.
During the Truckers Convoy in Canada in early 2022, the masses chose to opt out of this chasm of destruction by uniting together. Even amidst the lies of the mainstream media who portrayed the affair as the opposite of what it really was, this unity shone and gave hope to citizens from all walks of life.
The plan of the dividers, including our very own Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who shamefully divided and pitted one group, the vaccinated, against the other, the unvaccinated, failed miserably and revealed the cracks in their armor.
Disruption of unity, the diabolical, is the essence of the Satanic, noted archbishop Sheen during this his sermon. Though this sermon took place many decades ago, it should be noted that the archbishop was brutally honest in his admission that the Satanic was present in the Church itself – something that sadly persists to this day and which has detracted many goers from church halls all around the world.
At the time, Fulton noted that this diabolical agenda was pervasive across society and was even in found in books in schools as evil disruptive elements. Suicide rates were on the rise due to deep despair.
Sound familiar?
It seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same.
For those who may be interested in learning more about this forgotten wisdom, his full sermon can be appreciated hereunder:
A little bit of history about Sodom & Gomorrah
Like with many stories from the Bible, Sodom and Gomorrah reminds us that evil and depravity still exists. Wokeism and those responsible for it is but one manifestation of it.
As the story goes and is told in Genesis, the first book of the Bible, practically all of the inhabitants of the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah faced the wrath of God for their sins such as homosexuality and bestiality (having sex with animals). Having no hope that the inhabitants would change their wicked ways, God rained sulfur and fire upon the cities to rid them all.
“Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.”
Interestingly, the term sodomy, literally “the sin of Sodom” which refers to anal sex comes from the name of the biblical city.
Many metaphors and interpretations can be derived from the tale such as good shall trump evil. Others may include the cruelty of God for not being tolerant of his subjects.
Regardless of the interpretation, what remains is that there are limits to the manifestation of evil; and ultimately, such evil will have its day of reckoning in one form or another.
Some archeological evidence suggests that the burning of the two cities of Sodom and Gomorrah through sulfur and fire may have actually occurred.
Archeologist Joel P. Kramer made a video which he titled Sulfur Balls of Sodom and Gomorrah which presents an interesting geological and historical account of the biblical event.
So, who knows what really transpired thousands of years ago.
Whatever the case may be, we must remain cognizant of the forces of good versus evil along with our respective roles in this eternal battle.
God bless.
